Thursday Sports Recap: Pine Belt Signings & So. Miss Baseball

Posted: Updated:

Thursday was a busy day for sports around the Pine Belt, as Johnny Zuppardo and Caitlyn Spane of Jones County Junior College have already signed National Letters of Intent to play basketball with Mississippi State and North Florida, respectively.

In addition, Khalil Pope (football) and Brittany Hipps (soccer) of Hattiesburg both signed scholarships on Thursday. Pope, a senior punter, inked with Faulkner University, while Hipps signed with Southwest Community College.

Finally, Southern Miss baseball looks to earn its sixth straight series win to start the year over the weekend. On paper Louisiana Tech poses little threat to the Golden Eagles, but USM cannot afford to overlook any opponent down the stretch of the race for the Conference Tournament at Pete Taylor Park May 21-25.
