Election Watch 2014: Brown defeats Bleau in District 9 House race

Posted: Updated:
GREENVILLE, N.C. - The District 9 state house race has a winner.

Incumbent Brian Brown will go head to head against Democratic candidate Uriah Ward.

Ashley Bleau, running for the first time, lost with just 28 percent of the vote.

It was the race to follow in Pitt County.

Brown won by a landslide taking more than 70 percent of the vote.

Each time additional precincts were reported supporters applauded and let out yelps of joy.

Representative Brian Brown will now face the Democratic candidate in November. He defeated Beau who tells 9 On Your Side he’s disappointed in the results, but wishes Brown well.

Brown says he's looking forward to November, but says he's also focused on the immediate work, returning to Raleigh for the short session.

Bleau says he'd like to share some of his ideas with Brown moving forward. Brown of course, still needs to win in November.
