BAY ST. LOUIS, Miss. - A former theater teacher at Hancock County High received a 20 year prison sentence for having sex with a female student.

Judge John Gargiulo ordered 41-year-old Hiram J. Coker to serve the full prison term without eligibility for early release. Coker must also register as a sex offender once he gets out of prison.

Coker was sentenced on two counts of sexual battery.

Officials say the girl reported that the sex took place at school and on a school drama trip to Harrison County. Prosecutors say the student told the principal and the principal notified the sheriff's department in April 2013.
