JONES COUNTY, Miss. - Jones County Sheriff's Deputies say a 7-year-old is dead after drowning at an apartment complex pool in Jones County.

Authorities were dispatched to Northgate Apartments Tuesday in reference to a possible drowning. When deputies arrived on the scene, they found a 7-year-old boy unresponsive.

Residents of the apartments say they had seen a group of kids playing around the pool area earlier that evening. The boy went missing moments before he was found face down in the pool.

Officials say he was rushed to South Central Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The victim's body has been sent off for an autopsy. The case is still under investigation as deputies await for the autopsy results.
