USM Employee Resigns After Allegedly Accessing Other Employees' Personal Info

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The University of Southern Mississippi President Rodney Bennett announced that the school is investigating allegations that an employee accessed personal information of other employees on the Hattiesburg campus.

Bennett says the employee has resigned. He informed staff and faculty of the investigation by email Wednesday. He says the University Police Department will determine if there will be criminal charges.

Bennett says employees whose information was involved have been notified. Bennett urged faculty and staff to be vigilant about keeping up with personal account information.
