We all know that the summers here in Florida can be scalding, steamy hot, which can make your power bill soar.

This might interest you, one clever man says he's created a homemade air conditioner that does not cost much.

He calls himself "desertsun02" on YouTube and he's made video about his homemade air conditioner that's gone viral on the web.

Desertsun02 says his homemade air conditioners will provide cool air for about five hours.

They look to be pretty easy to make. You just need an ice chest, some pvc pipe, a small fan and some ice.

He says making one with a styrofoam chest will cost about $15 total, that's $2 for a styrofoam chest, $2 for pvc pipe and $11 for a 12 volt fan. Of course, it will be much cheaper if you have these things at home already.

Other published reports that we found say the homemade air conditioner can be made for $8 to $45.

The accompanying video shows how you can put it all together to create your very own homemade air conditioner.

If you make one, let us know. Please send a video or photo to online@wfla.com.
