HOUSTON, Miss. (AP) - Chickasaw County supervisors are considering a proposal to buy some land for a recycling center where local inmates can work.
The Chickasaw Journal reports (http://bit.ly/1mCF3b3) that Chickasaw County Regional Correctional Facility Warden Brand Huffman told supervisors the idea of putting inmates to work in not new but it will take some investment by the county to get started.
Huffman says officials are looking at property right out in front of the jail and a larger 25-acre spot just to the north.
Supervisor Russell King says the 25-acre property suggested by Huffman would allow for any future expansion.
Huffman says a recycling facility would be another drawing point for a new industry looking to locate in the county.
