A strong storm rolled across the central part of Door County late Monday night leaving a layer of hail that looked like a heavy snowfall.

Just before 11:00 p.m. the National Weather Service issued a severe thunder storm warning that indicated large hail was possible for the area around Sturgeon Bay.

The hail wasn't large, reported to be only about grape size, but it was plentiful.

The Door County Sheriff"s Office posted a picture on its Facebook page of hail covering Dunn Rd. in the Township of Sevastopol. The post said the hail was 3-4 inches deep.

Viewers shared pictures with us as well showing piles of hail on their patios. Lynn Zawojski told us it looked like winter returned to her backyard.

The sheriff's office says there have been no reports of damage from the storm.
