Deputies arrest suspect in fatal La Grange shooting

LAGRANGE, NC -

Lenoir County deputies have arrested one man and are looking for another in connection with a murder last week in La Grange.

Deputies arrested Demico Cannon Friday for the murder of Duane Bright. Bright was shot and killed in La Grange on July 15. Deputies say a truck pulled up next to Bright's car and fired several rounds into the car.

Sheriff Chris Hill says Demico Cannon Friday was observed Friday evening, as he left a home on Keith Hills Drive near LaGrange. Cannon fled from officers but deputies say he was quickly taken into custody.

Investigators are currently searching for William Ontrell Cannon, the brother of Demico Cannon. Anyone with information is asked to call the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office at 252-559-6140.

Authorities are investigating a fatal shooting in La Grange.

It happened around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday on South Wooten Street.

Deputies say 21-year-old Duane Bright Jr. was killed as a result of the incident. They say a truck pulled up next to Bright’s car and fired several rounds into the car, killing Bright.

Those suspects have been identified, but their names haven’t been released.
